Coalwash Bay Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Ngaambul: As there's been either no response from the cache owner, no cache to find or log to sign, or it's been a number of months since the last owner note. I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace/make available the cache sometime in the near future (next 30 days), just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the current guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it. Should you replace the cache after 30 days has passed please create a new cache listing so it can be reviewed as a new cache.

Geocache Description:

Close to a road that has increased traffic flow on weekends due to nearby display homes.

This area is better known as Haywards Bay, but locals will have seen a 20 year program of coalwash being added to the site to assist in the development of a new housing estate.
The container is painted black (just like coal) and should be easy enough to find. It is only small, so there is no room for swaps or TBs. You will need to bring a pen. A pair of tweezers would also be of assistance to avoid tearing the log. While suitable for geokids and pets, and open 24/7, you should take care due to the very close proximity to a road.
Parking is available at a nearby busbay (be careful of buses) or you can park near the display homes and walk back up the gentle hill. Wheelchair access is available to within a couple of metres of the actual cache, but unfortunately not directly to the cache (hence the 1.5 rating).
22/6/08 - Due to the continued dampness of the cache, I have upgraded it to a waterproof, 1 litre, container (complete with a screw top O ring) that is now suitable for swaps and TBs. The colour has changed from black coal to brown coal and is located only a few centimetres from the original location.
I have included a few swaps that are suitable for geokids.
The original log is still included but a notebook and pen have been added for future use.
Enjoy.
