Geocache Description:

This cache is hidden off an unknown trail next to highway 2 going thru Bad Rock Canyon heading towards Hungry Horse and Glacier Park. There is a white rope tied 6' up a small tree at the trailhead. Terrain is fairly steep and uneven. The cache is hidden very good and blends in well. It is an ammo can but dont look for the ammo can, you cant see it.

************* I have raised the difficulty to 5 because so many people cant find it, just when I think it might be gone, someone logs the find. Even some locals found it and reported its still there and ok. Please remember, this cache is on a cliff side with heavy tree cover. The coordinates to everyone who I have spoken to are all a bit different probably due to the rock cliff? If you need help, feel free to contact me by phone if you get signal out there. My number is 406-250-5186 and my name is Lennie. ***************

We had fun placing this one. There is a pullout just east of the House of mystery along the river where there is a water pipe that spews natural spring water from the mountainside. There is a dried up fountain and a couple of historical signs there. That is where the cache is. In the winter there is a nice water fall that freezes. Park about 40 yards east of the Bad Rock Canyon Historical Sign. The entrance to the easy way up the trail is at N 48* 23.129 W 114* 06.205. Look for a white rope tied about 6' up a small tree. That marks the trail head. We were going to make this one of our typical easy caches but the more we searched for a spot, the more we realised how difficult we were making it to find! Well, we found the perfect spot and also on our way back down we found there was a nice trail and it was much easier than the terrain we climbed. So, I have rated it a 3 because it is only 25 yards from the highway turnout but it is climbing thru the trees and up a steep trail and around, over and between large rocks next to a cliff face. I feel it is disquised and blends in Very Very well and it will be a hard one to find. Thus the 4 for difficulty. If you log a DNF and want to search again, Contact me and I will help with more detailed clues. Im not too sure how hard this one will be yet!
As we were placing the cache, a huge Bald Eagle swooped in and landed on a tree at eye level about 20' away. He flew away before we could get the camera ready! Little chipmonks were scurrying everywhere and the cliffs at our side were amazing. You never really notice them when driving by. We sat up there on the soft mossy ground for an hour. Hope you enjoy it as well.
