There are lots of car parks round Stockton
centre but, the best parking, if you are doing all the caches, is
at the Castle Gate multi story, entrance in Tower Street. This
gives free parking for the first three hours. You have to take a
ticket on entry and have it validated at a machine before returning
to your car. If you are quick and don’t do any shopping it
will take about an hour to do all the caches.
Nice views down river towards the barrage. Up river views are
blocked a bit by the trees in summer. On a clear day, Roseberry
Topping and Captain Cook’s monument can be seen on the
horizon straight ahead. The new buildings on the opposite bank are
in the redevelopment area which was a former ship building and
heavy engineering site. It’s a mix of University, office
buildings and housing with marina frontage, and worth a look round
if you have the time.
