Geocache Description:

Cache is a micro, log only. Do not remove cache where it is attached, just unscrew lid and remove log. Don’t forget your pen!

One of the most disturbing thing about this cemetery is the number of infants and young children buried here who died in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. Almost every family has at least one who died either in infancy or early childhood, and some families have several. Maybe there’s not any higher proportion here than in other cemeteries, but it sure seems that way. Very sad! We were unable to get much history on this place, but will continue to look and update if we find it.

You will have to go through the gate to get to the cache but the front gate is never locked. It’s a little tricky to get open so be patient and open carefully, make sure you close the gate behind you when you leave. There is an active church next door, please try to avoid visiting this cache during church services. Placed with permission of the Committee President.

A little about our “I See Dead People” Series:

If you feel a tap on the shoulder and turn to find no one is there…If you hear voices, moaning, or crying and you’re the only “living” being on the premises…If the dog refuses to get out of the car...If your GPS battery goes dead at the same time your cell phone shuts itself off…you might not be alone. A cemetery might be just a final resting place for a soul at peace. It may also be the home of a soul who doesn’t want to rest but prefers to take out it’s misery on those who wander into it’s path.

Enter at your own risk. If you have to run out, do it carefully so that you don’t disturb stones or markers in your way. Try not to scream and make the neighbors nervous. Carry a cross (and maybe even a bible) just in case. If you see someone who doesn’t belong—someone who is dressed oddly or smells badly—whatever you do, don’t look them in the eye. Check out the backseat before you get into your car. When you pull out of the drive do not leave tire marks, ruts, or skids.

Have fun, but if you have any close encounters we would appreciate being notified. Some of the cemeteries in this series are rumored to be haunted but we wouldn’t want to alarm anyone unnecessarily!
