Geocache Description:

Woomera Coolabah is one of over 30 caches on the Outback Way-finder Trail - the longest Geocache Trail in the world. Note: Regretfully, the listed coordinates are no longer accurate as the original host Coolabah is no longer available.. The cache is now held in the station office/shop.

G'day Geocachers, Woomera Coolabah cache is located on Jervois Station, an important provider of essential supplies for Outback Way travelers, including fuel, camping and cabins. The station is a prosperous cattle property and like other stations in the Outback, it is highly dependent upon seasonal rainfall. Cattle are often shifted to take advantage of localised rain. Jervois Station provides essential data to the Bureau of Meteorology daily. You will find an interested and eclectic collection of rocket bits and pieces near the shop. Why are they here? One of 11 rocket shelters built on remote pastoral stations in the NT is located on Jervois Station. They were intended to protect people in the northerly flight path of Europa rockets fired from Woomera in South Australia, many kilometres away. The shelters are now heritage listed. Activity: The giant tree near the cache is a Coolabah, Eucalyptus microtheca. This scraggly tree is a favourite habitat to many mammals, insects, birds and reptiles and was used by Aboriginal people for food and medicine. How many animals can you find?
