Geocache Description:

A horological delight in a beautiful park of Gloucester, NSW

Enjoy one of the prettiest parks in NSW, with walks along the river and around the commemorative Bicentennial Garden. Experience telling the time using the human sundial.
Visit the Minimbah Bush Tucker Garden, or enjoy a picnic in the Billabong Park. Barbecue areas and picnic tables are available, or buy a packed lunch beforehand in the shopping centre.

The maker of the sun dial has tried to make it as accurate as possible for any time of the year. But as always with a sun dial, the accuracy can only be confirmed when you can cast a shadow.

If driving by, park at the State Survey Marker, 55362, 32° 0.124’ E151° 57.131’, and there is a convenient gap in the fence to get through. Otherwise drive into the park, and take the time to really enjoy it. You could use the Gloucester 1:25 000 topographical map to help plan your trip (have found the Dungog 1:100 000 map very hard to come by). Go to "Barringtons" home page link for the start of lots of good information about the region.

There may be enough room for microgeocoins, or a very small swap item. (Think Harrington sized) Currently a 250g Marmite jar - sorry about the size of the log book. Hopefully others will be able to place bigger and better caches in this beautiful area as well. Don't forget to hide the cache so muggles can't see it.

Because so many cachers have not been able to tell the time from the sundial I think I'll have to rename it, and encourage the cachers not to do a 'rain dance', but rather a 'Sun Dance'!
