5 Lines Cipher is last in the series of shape ciphers!
5 Lines Cipher (aka. Zig-Zag Cipher) uses combination of 5 line
segments and dots to encrypt the message. The orientation of the
segment and the placement of the dot are not specific for each
letter. Not only are the groups of letters allocated to one segment
but specific segment orientation is repeated throughout the cipher,
hence entire alphabet is represented by 4 symbols only!
To make things “fair”, here are the rules:
- Each side of the line segment must contain at least one letter
but no more than three and;
- Alphabet can start on any one segment or side but must go in
one direction only.
Example below schematically demonstrates how letters are
designated their corresponding characters.
Solving the first 2 ciphers (
3 Squares Cipher and
4 Triangles Cipher) shall prepare you for the “nasties” in this
cipher.
