Geocache Description:

Rest in peace in a hidden away and peaceful part of Florida

As Paddler Found and I were heading out to the Alafia Corridor, and taking our shortcut back by Alderman’s Ford, we saw a little road off the side with a name of a cemetery. So as we headed back and managed to avoid the thunderstorms bouncing around the area, we scooted down this road to investigate what was down here. We weren’t disappointed.

At the end of this little hidden road we found a beautiful little cemetery with wonderful scenery in a peaceful setting. We were going to place a small cache here but unfortunately the only container in my stock was damaged so we had to settle for a micro. Our assumption was it was worth this discovery to get a find regardless of the size of the container.

This is the site of the Alderman-Pelote Cemetery which was established in 1851. A really neat little spot and a lot of history here. A list of headstones can be found here : (visit link) This is a micro so bring your own pen and keep in mind you do not have to enter the cemetery grounds to find this cache. Please re-hide as well as you found it to keep it fun for the next explorer.

Enjoy this little remote spot and a hidden spot of Florida’s history and please keep in mind there is NO need to enter the cemetary grounds to make the find here.
