Hello again from The Amigos! Well, it's that time again! The
heat is letting off, hopefully the rains will have slowed down, and
it's time to get our lazy butts off the couches and do some
caching!
So, are we crazy or what? We decided to do this again! We're going
to have another get-together (or maybe this should become an annual
thing). Same place, hopefully lots of new faces! We had a great
time last year, and looking forward to an even better time this
year. We had good food, good friends, and good caching. What more
could we have asked for?
Well, we're asking for more this year!! lol More food, more
friends, and more caches!! If you know somebody who has been
interested in caching, but has never taken that step, this would be
a great time to bring them out, and actually show them we're not
REALLY crazy, just a little bit crazy!
We chose to use the same location because of the shade, having
electricity, water, and bathrooms available, and because we won't
have muggles all over us!! We may decide to make this a CITO event
as well, which will mean TWO icons (for you ICON HO's)! We may want
to use the area again sometime, so it would be a good reason to do
this.
I'm not sure how many caches will be hidden yet, as we are just
in the beginning stages of planning. More information will be
posted as we get it together. There will be prizes again, as well.
I am working on getting donations from local businesses for prizes,
and possibly a few coins and/or swag donated from the coin
companies, like last year! There is a nearby shaded park for our
smaller geobuddies to play at, with supervision, if they would
rather play than cache (HOW COULD THEY!!!).
This get-together, at this time, is going to be a brown-bag
event, but if I can get enough donations like last year, this may
change to a pot-luck dinner. Please email me with suggestions (or a
preference for pot-luck or brown-bag). There is refrigeration
available, as well as electricity, if needed. You will need to
bring your own drinks (we kind of had an issue with this last
year). NO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES ALLOWED IN THE AREA!
Oh yea, there WILL be another Coin Raffle, so bring your
pocket change!! This year, I think you might just want to bring
more than your pocket change, as this time, there may be upwards of
FIVE coins included in the raffle, maybe more, not sure yet.
These are ALL nice coins to have in your collection.
We will also have a donation jar set up again for a donation for
Abilene State School for letting us use their location (this would
be a good place for your pocket change!
I do need a head-count, so I can start getting the ball rolling.
Please email me by November 1st with this, and sooner with
suggestions and/or ideas for the event, to RWFriend1@yahoo.com.
We look forward to seeing all our old friends again, and
hopefully meeting new friends this year. We will swap stories, swap
coins(?), and just have a good time! Be prepare to do a little
hiking.
If you do plan on caching during the event, we HIGHLY recommend
jeans and bug spray. Also, folks, there are wild animals out here,
and there have been 2 cases of rabid foxes out here, found this
spring, so you will need to really be aware of your
surroundings!!
More info to follow as it becomes available.
