Geocache Description:

This is all level terrain, easy walking or riding trails, suitable for all ages and families

Camp Hendrie, at the North end of the Hendrie Forest Tract, about 5 acres in size was opened as a work centre for inmates of Provincial Reformatories in 1960, and operated
until amalgamation with another camp in 1975. Many thousands of man-days were contributed by these inmates to improvements on the Hendrie main Tract and otherSimcoe
County Forests. The Forests at this time were managed by the Ontario Department of Natural Resources. In 1976 Camp Hendrie became a Junior Ranger Camp, where young
girls from all over Ontario come to live, work and learn about Forest resources management during the summer months. In 1995 the Forest management was assumed by the County of Simcoe who manage and harvest forests all over the County .

Just thought I would include a little History of the Hendrie County Forest, and Camp Hendrie for your information in the 4 Cache series I have placed. Enjoy
