Cache is located on the grounds of Arrowhead, historic home of American author Herman Melville, author of Moby Dick.
Herman Melville’s home for 13 years was at Arrowhead, an 18th century farmhouse in Pittsfield MA. This is where he and his family lived, from 1850 – 1863, while he completed his most famous novel, Moby Dick. Today, Arrowhead is owned and operated by the Berkshire County Historical Society who kindly gave permission for this cache in hopes you would enjoy strolling about the grounds and viewing the panoramic vistas of the Berkshires. Parking is available on site year-round. Admission is charged for guided tours of the house from Memorial Day through Columbus Day, 11:am – 4:00pm, Friday-Wednesday.
While it’s possible to make this a “Cache ‘n’ Dash, perhaps consider the value of pausing to take advantage of the opportunity to learn more about this great American author in the setting that inspired him.
Micro. Bring pen/pencil. Mini log only.
