Perfect Docker Pass is one of over 30 cache sites on the Outback Way-finder Trail - the longest geocache trail in the world.
G'day Geocachers,
Perfect Docker Pass cache is located on a dune rise near the Kaltukarjara campground. This is Pitjantjatjara country! The settlement of Kaltukatjara, also called Docker River, was established in 1968. It is home to about 400 people and is an important place for ceremonies, sport festivals and supplies for travelers. The campground is owned and managed by the community.
The surrounding landscape is in the Central Ranges bioregion of Australia - notable for ancient hills and ranges interspersed with sandplains, low open woodlands with Desert Oak and Mulga and hummock grasslands.
The settlement and the cache site are located in a valley/pass between the Petermann Ranges to the south and Bloods Range to the north.
Activity: climb the lookout platform for sunrise and sunset. Note the dramatic landscape features - the ranges, the diversity of vegetation and drainage patterns. How many plant species can you identify?
