Symbology is a big part of our lives. Everywhere we look, everything we do, everything we touch is marked by some kind of symbol.
It's amazing how, when we look at these signs, we always know what they mean... Even a symbol that you aren't familiar with, when properly designed, can convey the desired message.

Who creates these symbols?
One of the most recognizable symbols of the modern day, happy-go-lucky world was created right here in Worcester.
It was way back in December of 1963, and this enterprising ad-man/graphic artist was paid a whopping $45 for his work... It was designed to be a morale boosting campaign by his boss for a large insurance company merger. If he only knew the far reaching effect his symbol would have!
Now this symbol can be found all over the world, in just about every town, village and grass hut. It has been copied, modified, and mutilated by companies, kids, and adults everywhere.
Do you know what symbol it is? Do you know who created it?
The coordinates listed above are not the location of the cache... they will actually lead you to the Worcester Tornados pitcher's mound at Fitton Field. But they are within two miles of where you need to start.
The land where this creator once lived, as of June of 2007, has been converted to a Conservation area, and there is even a trail named after the symbol in question.
Figure it out yet?
Park at the provided parking area, and take a GPS reading at the sign that bears the person and the symbol's name. I used the left leg of the sign, but it shouldn't make much difference.
Then you need to offset those coordinates:
- From the North Latitude, subtract 0.301 minutes.
- From the West Longitude, subtract 0.258 minutes.
You can follow the trail all the way, except for the last 225 feet, when you'll need to bushwack, but the ground cover is light, so it is easy bushwhacking.
The cache is a 5.1 cup Lock N Lock container, and it has a logbook, pens, and a bunch of kids toys. Please hide the cache at least as well as it was hidden when you found it.
The FTF prize that I had planned to put in is backordered, so I will contact the FTF for an address to mail it too when it arrives.
