Geocache Description:

The Wallin series of caches commemorates the generous contribution that led to the Wallin Nature Trails, off The Skyline Trail, at Great Bear, near Sioux Falls, South Dakota. I have known the Wallins for several years now, and used to work with Doris, A/K/A Dori. Dori still volunteers, at least two days a week, and, the princess & I see her often/frequently.
A few weeks ago, while going through pictures, for the princess' award-winning 4-H project, I looked at the picture near The Skyline cache, and saw that there is also a sign that mentions the Ralph & Doris Wallin Nature Trails. I hadn't "connected the dots," but is suddenly struck me that we knew them. We had the picture blown-up, to make a 11 x 14" poster, which we presented to Dori. She thanked us, and said she appreciated what we did. We thanked her for their contribution, and considering their health, we decided to do caches, for them, and for the upcoming geoevent. So, these are for Dori & Ralph: thank you for your generousity, and we pray for your health.
A great deal of the difficulty for these caches, is due to the terrain: you must get to the top of Great Bear (there are several routes). Regardless of which way you choose, these caches are not for the faint-of-heart: if you are not up to a somewhat strenuous hour workout, please do not attempt these caches ! This cache requires some up & down bushwacking, through easy terrain. The cache is a peanut can (over 3 pounds), has a log, and writing instruments (but it never hurts to bring your own), and has various swag in it, including a FTF pin. This cache may not be readily visible, and, may not be very winter-friendly. Please take the time to re-conceal the cache: it's not easy to hide something this size, especially when it has a bright yellow lid on the top & bottom of the can. If you don't rehide it well, it will be too easy to find.
