Ol' well Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

DrPowercat: The original CO passed away several years ago and his wife passed away earlier this year. Not sure what will happen with the property, but since this one appears to be missing, it is probably time to let it go.

Geocache Description:

Easy walk, park on right of way just off the pavement

Ol’ Spring

This was a well that was hand dug in the 1930’s. I am not sure of the depth, but it was all stone lined. It now has a concrete cap and most of the pump jack. The stories I remember of it are that locals literally drove for miles around during the drought of the 1930’s and the well never ran dry. They came in Model A trucks and by horse and wagon to fill their barrels. It was called a community well and water was free for anyone.

In the 1970’s, before they capped the well, they put a very large pump in it and ran it for days and it never ran out of water.

The cache is on private land, so park on the road right of way. The land belongs to my family, thus you have my permission. Tell anyone I am Mike and I live right across from the clinic, they will understand and not bother you. The route is all pavement.

There might be some poison ivy, but I will try to keep it under control. It is a very short walk and hardly any bushwhacking.

30 Cal. Ammo Can. The theme of the cache is who you are, or where you are from. Anything from your hometown, state or heritage for example. The first to find (if they would like) it is a small patch with the tribal logo of the Prairie Band Potawatomi. The rest of the start contents are other things from this area, a few things for the young ones, a special treat for any K-Staters and a Geocoin.
