Geocache Description:

Mule Creek was a small frontier settlement founded in the 19th century. Said to be named either for (1) an early horse and mule ranch, or (2) a stagecoach mule that died at a creek which runs nearby. The Abilene-Fort Concho stage once served area. For years the principal building here was a combination school and church. Since the 20th century, a shift to urban living diminished the population of Mule Creek. Inscriptions on the tombstones chronicle the history of the community. In spring, the grounds of the cemetery are covered with bluebonnets, the state flower of Texas. Inside the cemetery is a mailbox with a notebook for visitors to leave messages.
