Geocache Description:

.50 cal. ammo can in the woods. Above coordinates are for parking.

Especially for Dogs

I won an enormous ammo can at our first meet and greet last summer and had choice of placement for the associated cache. Biscuit and I love coming to the Ithaca Dog Park, and so the choice was clear.

Cache is steps off the trail, just outside the off-leash fenced area of the park. Hide is not tricky at all, difficulty level is because of the puzzle. I would like the theme of this cache to be trades for dog toys (or related TB's, coins) in order to reward all those faithful, canine companions who come to our geocaches with us, but never get to play with the stuff in the box. The cache is filled start with fabulous four-footed friend goodies (and a pin for FTF). If you do not have anything to trade, but have a dog, please go ahead and take a toy anyway. We have also placed a copy of Biscuit's Geodogcoin as a resident in the cache for you to discover. Obviously, bring your pup with you to this one, as this cache is for our fuzzy, geocaching friends. Be sure to keep your dog on-leash until you enter the clearly fenced off-leash area.

  • While you are here, it's a quick walk to also visit DogFish by Diane, the first cache in Ithaca (GCC3E).

The above coordinates take you to parking in Allen H. Treman Marina, directly next to the City of Ithaca Dog Park. The cache is physically located on City of Ithaca public parkland. You can either walk through (if you like dogs) or around (if you want a dog-free find) the fenced off-leash area of the park to reach the cache from these parking coordinates.

When we placed the cache, we saw the following dogs:
To the north at 42 degrees: a Bloodhound, Greyhound, Eskapoo, Imo-Inu, and Chihuahua
To the west at 076 degrees we saw: a Corgi, Aussiedor, Jindo, Collie and Eurasier.
