This Place is for the Birds Traditional Cache
offline.cacher: The general rule reviewers use to archive a cache is that the cache owner has been notified (through a log entry) by the reviewer and that no response has been forthcoming. This is the case with this cache. As a result it has been archived.
If the owner would like to discuss this issue, please contact me through my geocaching.com profile. Include the GC code for the cache.
Thanks

This cache is hidden at a secluded important historical area. Watch for a historical sign off the east side of the highway and turn onto an unused, paved side-road (old route 42). The nearby house was built by President Abraham Lincoln’s ancestors about 1800. Prior to that, President Lincoln’s Grandfather Abraham lived near here. President Lincoln’s father, Thomas, was born in Virginia about 1778, but when he was only 4 years old, Daniel Boone encouraged Grandfather Abraham to migrate to Kentucky where Thomas later met and married Nancy Hanks. President Abraham Lincoln was born there on February 12, 1809.
Drive a short distance (200 yards) on the unused road and park at this location (N 38.33.660 W078.50.047). From here you will see a path leading directly east to the small cemetery where 5 generations of Lincoln’s ancestors and two family slaves are buried. You will need to walk on a grass path up a short slope and then about 100 yards. This area is regularly mowed and maintained, thanks to a group called “Virginia Friends of Lincoln.” Each year on Lincoln’s birthday, a celebration is held here.
The cache is located on private property with the expressed permission of the landowner. Because this is an important historical site, visitors are welcome, but please respect and preserve the nature of this area.
The name of this cache is not a comment about the historical location. Rather, it is in reference to how the cache is hidden. This cache combines two of my favorite hobbies- Geocaching and Birding. When you try to access the cache, don’t worry that you might disturb nesting birds. I designed and built this hiding place in such a way that both birds and geocachers can enjoy it safely. If I get good results and feedback, I might start a series of similar caches in this area. While you are here, enjoy the beautiful view to the west. This is an ideal cache for families with kids. ENJOY.
The original contents included: A Lincoln bill ($5) for the FTF, a new $1 coin, a Lincoln head wheat penny, coins from Belize, Jamaica, Trinidad, Haiti, British pound, a Euro, Swiss Franc, Italy, and Canada Loonie, keychain, 2 mini sharpie pens, 2 mini ink pens, and a Logbook and pencil. Also started a new "Virginia Geocoin.Lincoln" (TB16KM9) with the goal: Visit President Lincoln’s birth-home near Hodgenville, Kentucky then to Springfield, Ill where he lived when he was elected president, then return to Harrisonburg, VA.
Congratulations to KWIKSTIX for First to Find FTF!
