Young Gulch Multi Multi-Cache
Denali41: The US Forest Service continues its consideration of whether to rebuild a trail up Young Gulch, but there is no possibility it will be accomplished in the next year or two or three. Young Gulch remains off limits to hikers and adventure seekers, so I'm reluctantly archiving this nice multi sequence. I will create a new multi if in the future the Forest Service restores access. This is a short, 3-stage multi cache along Young Gulch in the Poudre Canyon. The trail is approximately 4 miles long; however, the three stages of the multi are all within 1 mile of the trail head. The trail is beautiful and very scenic with a creek snaking through the canyon. The trail-head is located southwest of the Ansel Watrous Campground, 12.8 miles up Poudre Canyon from U.S. 287.
All three cache stages have existing paths that lead to them--there is little need to bushwhack to any of the stages (beware, poison ivy is present). The 1st container is a small pill vial that has been camoed and contains the coordinates to the second stage. The 2nd container is a small round tin that has been camoed and contains the coordinates to the final cache site. The final cache is an ammo container that is well hidden.
The original cache contents included a Green Jeep TB, Cacher's Compass #3 TB, TP's Green Geocoin, Geocaching Pin, 2 Geocaching Patches, 2 Match Containers, 2 Emergency Ponchos, Army NG Lanyard, CO Avalanche Sticker, Package of Star Stickers, Log Book and Geo Pen.
