Daphne and I were talking a nice walk with the dogs along old snake road, when... we came to a corner, and I noticed a trail I'd never noticed before, in all these years.
This cache is on a well-established trail just a couple hundred feet off the road - and is almost exactly a mile (.97 according to my GPSr) from the nearest parking. There are several other approaches, but I think the closest is the one we took today.
This turned out to be the apex of our walk today - and, as mentioned, I was surprised to discover a trail I'd never noticed - I'm definitely familiar with the ridgeline it no doubt leads to.
We stopped and took a brief rest here - a water break for us and the dogs - while I rummaged through my pack, desperate to assemble a cache. First a log, in a ziplock: good start. Then, finally - a spare film can, and then some icing on the cake, an FTF pin, and a digital fish. Sweet!
While we sat, several butterflies hovered nearby - and then, when it was time to hide the cache - the perfect 'camo' made itself readily available... and there you have it.
I gave it the scenic view attribute not for the actual final cache location - but because there are several nice vistas of the strait, Benicia, Martinez, passing trains, etc along the approach. Enjoy!
