Geocache Description:

This is our 7th cache, it is located in the heart of St. John’s.

It is located near 3 historic buildings, Government House (residence of the Lieutenant Governor), Commissariat House and St. Thomas’ Anglican Church. Government House was built in 1831, Commissariat House in 1818 and St. Thomas’ Church in 1836. All 3 survived the great fires of 1846 and 1892.

While in the area you can stroll around the grounds of Government House and admire the huge trees and flower gardens. Tours of the house are by appointment only but you can enter the foyer at the north side of the building and sign the guestbook. Commissariat House is open during the tourist season but the grounds are open year round and St. Thomas’ Church holds regular services. All three buildings make for beautiful photos, as do the grounds and surrounding area.

Happy caching,
Joe & Karen
