Pine
v. t. 1. To grieve or mourn for.
v. i. 2. To languish with desire; to waste away with longing for something.
Knoll
n. 1. A little round hill; a mound; a small elevation of earth; the top or crown of a hill.
This has been a long, hot, dry, summer. The tick, horsefly, and mosquito population were at an all time high, and we don't even want to talk about the chiggers.
Many cachers have abandoned the long bushwhacking hikes deep into the woods, swamps, hills and valleys to find the elusive ammo-cans under the small mound of sticks or rocks. Choosing instead to wonder mindlessly from one parking lot to the next grabbing micros and nanos by the dozens.
Those who have ventured out planned their trips well ahead of time and faced a day of blood, sweat and sometime tears. Enough water? Deet? Ambition? along with the last minute update from the Weather Channel to check the heat index or the chance of a late afternoon flash thunderstorm.
However, the dog days of summer are behind us and we are all looking for a sign that says the Knoll's we Pined for all summer long are just ahead of us. We can slowly but surely venture deeper and deeper into the woods and swamps.
Unfortunately, This is not one of those caches!!!
1. The listed coordinates will take you to a parking lot.
2. You will not be bushwhacking deep into the woods or swamps.
3. You are not looking for an ammo can under a small pile of sticks.
So what does any of this have to do with "Pined Knolls"?
Absolutely nothing! or probably something!
The key might be to use "A garman" to figure it out.
This cache may be defined as a traditional / puzzle cache hybrid. The listed cords will not take you directly to the cache. But you can see see it from here (though well camouflaged). The actual cache is an offset within a eighty foot or so radius of that spot.
From here you can choose the traditional route and hunt it down the old fashion way (That translates to looking for a needle in a haystack) or, if you like, you may choose to approach it as a puzzle cache putting a little thought into it ahead of time, therefore giving yourself an intellectual edge over the traditional cacher.
The choice is yours! You don't have to solve the puzzle in order to log this cache, you only need to find it.
Replace exactly as it should be placed.
BYOP
