Beaver B&B Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Deep Creek Local: This one's had a good long run but the tree it was hiding in fell many moons ago. Time to let the beaver move on. Thanks all for exploring this backside of Herrington Manor with me!

Geocache Description:

The signs are everywhere! This cache takes you to the Watchable Wildlife Trail off Snaggy Mountain Road. You can drive for a 1/2.5 (with map and right vehicle) or hike from Herrington Manor for a 1/3 rating (1 to 2 mi round trip).

This is a clear tube 1 1/2" diameter, 4" long. Original contents included a log book, pink ribbon keychain, 2 AA batteries and a pathtags TB.

The signs of wildlife are everywhere ~ hence the name! Take a camera and see what you can capture.

The hike from Herrington Manor State Park should start at the dam. It is not strenuous. For more of a challenge you can hike in from the parking lot on Herrinton Manor Rd where it crosses Herrington Run. Take water and a map.

The Garrett State Forest is HUGE! Please use caution during hunting season. There are primitive campsites and a bathroom facility along Snaggy Mountain Road.

If you choose to drive, take a map of the area or bump this up to a 5/1 for the frustration factor of finding your way. Snaggy Mountain Road is NOT PAVED. You should only attempt this in dry weather with a higher clearance vehicle. 4 wheelers and snowmobiles are permitted. I managed quite well in my 4 wheel drive van during dry conditions.

Maryland DNR Approved
