Geocache Description:

Tanami Blue is one of over 30 caches along the Outback Way-finder Trial - the longest Geocache Trail in the world.

G'day Geocachers,
Tanami Blue is located near the junction of the Stuart Highway and Tanami Track, also known as the Tanami Road or McGuire Track. The Track includes over 1000km of sometimes graded sand, bulldust and corrugations linking the Stuart Highway/Alice Springs to Halls Creek and the Kimberley Region of WA. The Track is included in folklore as one of the great outback adventures. It traverses the Tanami Desert bioregion of Australia - a vast flat to rolling very red sandy landscape that is home to a few Aboriginal communities, pastoral stations and mines - but few facilities and services. The track follows a historical cattle droving route.

Activity: consider what preparations you would make to travel safely in the Australian outback along the Tanami Track - away from main highways, easy communication and access to emergency assistance. The outback is unforgiving to those that explore unprepared - many visitors end up very Blue indeed.
