Ohrbach Arena at Alpine Scout Camp

This is the third time in a year that we are offering 'Introduction to Geocaching' for scout leaders, but this time, we are opening it up to anyone who wants to learn the basics, or, to just come out for a little GC fellowship.

For the beginners-- An opportunity to learn what Geocaching is all about and assistance with the use of your GPS receiver and understanding the ever expanding world of Geocaching. This will be from 10 am to approximately 1 pm. There is a charge of $10 per person to cover program supplies and snacks. Experienced Geocachers are also welcome to come by to lend a hand (no charge).

For Everyone-- From 1 pm to 4 pm, there will be a Geocaching gathering in the Gary I. Laermer Activities Center. Bring your own food or purchase at the camp for $5. Beverages will be provided. Besides the usual exchange of stories, travel bugs and geocoins, you can also have the opportunity to try your hand at simulated rock-climbing ($5)

This is a great jumping off point for the dozens of caches along the Palisades, Tallman Mountain and the surrounding communities.

Alpine Scout Camp is located 10 miles north of the George Washington Bridge at Exit 3 of the Palisades Parkway. If coming from the south, however, get off at Exit 2 and follow Route 9W north approximately 2 miles. Upon entering the camp, bear left after the parking lot and follow the signs to the Gary Laermer/Ohrbach Activities Center.
