The cache is a well hidden, 50cal ammo can, located in the Beartown
Rock area of the Clear Creek State Forest. The most direct route
would be following rt 949 towards Clear Creek State Park. From here
you’re on your own. Actually walk through Beartown Rocks, don’t try
and go around, you’ll definitely end up making this one harder than
it needs to be. FYI- the last 100 yards or so of the cache involves
somewhat of a bushwack through knee-high vegitation. Don’t be
deterred, its worth it.
Beartown Rocks are a sandstone and conglomerate formation called
the Pottsville Group (Pennsylvania Age) that occurs throughout the
Pennsylvania Plateau Region. This “rock city” formed by large
blocks of rock that have weathered extensively along joint cracks,
have produced interconnected passageways, tunnels and crevices.
These rocks are harder than the surrounding stone and therefore
more resistant to erosion.
Since these rocks are easily accessible to the public, many people
have visited the site over the years, some leaving behind their
mark. The earliest legible date found chiseled into the rock is,
“R.S. Corbert Apr. 14 – 1902.” Since then, others have left their
names etched in stone. This land became State Forest in 1919, and
is now illegal to deface these rocks. Many people often visit this
location, bringing their children for a woodsy adventure and to
admire the great scenery. A camera would probably be a good choice
if you’re into photos. Also, please remember to practice CITO.
Picking up a piece of trash or two on your way out never hurt
anybody, and will help to keep this great area clean. Chances are
you will encounter others at this area when you arrive. Please
beware of mugglers and hide this cache as well as you found it.

The cache was originally stocked full of stuff… too much to list,
but the FTF prize is a brand new, unactivated Geocoin.

NOTE: This area is surrounded mostly by thick forest cover. GPS
signal is sometimes interrupted. Don’t be discouraged. Move around
the area and explore the rocks, chances are signal will resume.
