Tasty Toyon Traditional Cache
Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions

This is an easy hike along a good trail. There is plenty of parking unless school groups are visiting. No need to try to get through the driveway gate because the trailhead is at the west end of the parking area.
Stunt Ranch is part of the Univ. of CA Natural Reserve System and also hosts nature hikes for school groups led by Cold Creek Docents. Community hikes are available--check the Outdoors publication for the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area.
Toyon is also called Calif. Holly and Christmas Berry because of its winter crop of bright, tasty red berries. Some say Hollywood got its name from the masses of this native shrub growing on nearby hills.
Native Americans toasted or boiled the sweet and spicy little fruits and ate them eagerly. Spanish Californians used them to prepare a pleasant beverage. Please admire, but do not pick. State law prevents harvesting.
The cache is a camo'd plastic bottle large enough for log and small trade items, starting with a FTF gold dollar, shell, angel keychain, grey mouse, and gold leaf pendant.
