The Greeks had two distinct numeral systems known as Acrophonic Greek Numerals and Alphabetic Greek Numerals. Acrophonic Greek Numerals were used in ancient Greece up to Roman times (100 BC) This was later replaced by Alphabetic numerals, where 27 letters and their combinations stood for all numbers. Most of these are commonly known, however, two or three digit numbers become slightly more difficult.
