Geocache Description:

Lithuania's North-East corner, not far from borders of Belarus and Latvia. About 160 km by road from Vilnius, Lithuania's capital.

This part of Lithuania called Aukshtaitija (High lands, or Hill lands) is famous for untouched natural resources, such as lakes and forests. Absolutely free from industry pollution, low-populated, its roads are almost empty and nice for calm ride.

Up to the end of 2009, the Ignalina Nucler Power Plant, located nearby town Visaginas, was supplying the whole Lithuania with a clean electric energy. The plant has two world-biggest nuclear reactors, 1500 Megawatts electrical power each - see the details of its operation on official INPP site (visit link)

Worth to mention, that nowadays a new modern Nuclear Power Plant is planned to be built there! It's new name is VAE, for details check here (visit link)

Besides your primary target (the cache, I guess :-), you might want seeing INPP Visitors Centre with an exhibition of scaled model of the reactors, mock-up of real nuclear fuel assembly that produces all the power, and also photogallery of INPP construction history.
(INPP Visitors Centre is free to access, no pre-conditions/permits, but open only on weekdays and within business hours, for contact details - check (visit link) ).

Just before you arrive to cache, you'll pass by a big monument at the road crossing. It memorizes the construction of Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant in 1970s-1980s, its four pillars stand for 4 power units that Soviet Union originally planned to build here.

The coordinates now get you directly to the cache site. At the end, drive off the motorway to a forest road. Keep stealth!

Cache is a plastic sandwich box, wrapped with camouflage tape. When placing it back, be sure to close it properly (the box has a watertight seal), to prevent moisture from getting in. Thanks for care!
