Legends is a term often applied to readily to favourite sporting stars in this sports mad country. However the following 6 sportspeople will be well known to those who have any interest in sport. Sir Hubert Opperman, Steve Moneghetti, Gary Ablett, Andrew Gaze, Raelene Boyle and Lionel Rose. Some are from yesteryear, some were Olympians, some played team sports and others obtained individual honours in their chosen field.
