Geocache Description:

Lovely park on the outskirts of St Albans. Easy parking within 5 min. walk, on the flat at 96m elevation.

The Cache should be great for kids and adults alike with a picture of the Fantastic 4 (2+2)somewhere else. Log book; Tweetie Pie; golf ball; balloons; and 2X CD rom games.

Luke and I hope you enjoy the grounds. The Park has been created in the former grounds of two mental hospitals. To the north, Hill End Hospital which has a 100 years of fascinating history since its opening in 1900. It even had its own railway line and during the 2nd World War was used by St Bartholomew’s to treat the war wounded and Londoner’s injured during the Blitz. The Hospital was a self-sufficient community in many respects and during the 1960's pioneered work in Community Care. Only three of the original Hospital ward blocks now remain and these have been converted into social housing. The former Chapel is part of the Park and is being restored as an Arts base and the home of the Trestle Theatre Company.
