In "The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde", Robert Louis Stevenson explores the two opposite sides of human nature, represented by the good-natured Dr. Jekyll and the rather sinister Mr. Hyde. The solution to this cache also relies on opposites. I could have used any number of opposites as the reference; Yin and Yang, Angels and Daemons, Janus, etc. However, they wouldn't have allowed for the pun in the name.
Dr. Jekyll set out to create an ordinary multi-cache, in which a sequence of dreaded redirect tags each point to the next waypoint, and eventually to the cache. However, as he was hiking the trails of Saint-Lazare, he underwent a number of personality changes. Whenever he set up a tag as Dr. Jekyll, it points to the next waypoint, as one would expect. However, whenever he was the nasty Mr. Hyde, the coordinates on the tag point to a location which is the same distance from the current waypoint as the next one is, but in the exact opposite direction. Follow the sequence of waypoints to the cache location, but remember that some of them may require looking in two places. N45° and W74° are implied on all tags.
The trails are primarily for horses and are maintained by the volunteers of the Club Equestre Les Forestiers (www.clubequestre.com). However, those you need are on public land and hiking is allowed as well. Please keep the area tidy. You can park near the posted coordinates, as indicated below. Please observe the no-parking signs along the access road. The cache is a camo-ed tupperware.
