Eben Merritt's pasture was purchased by the town of Chapel Hill in 1989 and is now part of the Morgan Creek Preserve, a 92-acre nature preserve along Morgan Creek from Merritt Pasture to the Chapel Hill town limit at Smith Level Road.
Parking is available in a new lot accessible from the eastbound lanes of NC54. From there it is about a mile walk to the cache along a woodland corridor that James Taylor called "Copperline".
With Google Maps Satellite or Hybrid views you can get an excellent view of the meadow and make out the trail circumnavigating it.
The first stage is just off the trail that circumnavigates the meadow. The second stage, a small camo'd lock-n-lock, is somewhat further from the trail. Sometimes the grass is high and long pants are recommended.
Stage 2 coordinates are N35° 53.abc, W79° 03.def, where abc is right wing in +0.002, and def is right wing out -0.013. The hint is for stage 2. Please re-hide and cover well as this cache has been muggle-prone. It should be easy enough to find with the hint.
Congratulations to mnloon - how appropriate - for the First To Find.
