Geocache Description:

This event will be held in the well kept Hickory Point Park.

IF THE COORDS GET RELEASED THE NIGHT BEFORE THE EVENT, YOU CAN START SEARCHING AS EARLY AS YOU WANT.

The location is the general area where we will meet. Good time to renew old friendships and meet new cachers.

Noon is the time for the Meet, Greet and Eat. Bring your favorite dish, I'm sure we will all enjoy it very much. There are charcoal grills available, restrooms, swimming beach for the kids, picnic tables, a lot of shade and excellent boat ramps but the water is low making it difficult to lauch.

The boats will be launching at 10 am from the ramp on route 27, below Leesburg. Non-powered boats can leave at 9 am. See the reference waypoint for the location.

During lunch if you have a cache hunting tale, suggestions, cautions or think of a nearby cache that is of interest, this is the time to tell everyone about it. Door prize drawing, (donations gladly accepted).

Bring those Travel Bugs and Geocoins that have been languishing in your stash for too long. If you are going to do any of the lake caches it might not be a good idea to leave them in one of them because they probably would not get moved for a very long time. Trade them at the event or put them in some of the numerous caches in the area.

If you have a boat, this is the time to grab those caches. If you have room for others let me know and I will post a list of the number of people you can take with you. Lake Harris is about 7 miles E/W by 5 miles N/S. Little Lake Harris is 1.5 miles E/W by 3miles N/S.There will probably be a few more caches on the lake by event time.

Those choosing to look for some of the caches on the lake and have an extra seat or two will have appreciative cachers willing to ride along.

If you have a non-power boat come to the new lauch area, by 9am to get your list of cache coordinates, regardless of which area you will be launching from.

If you go on the lake, make sure you have a cell phone to call for help if needed. I don't want to be on the water after dark searching for lost boaters.

You won't see this scenery here but you will still enjoy the view. And you will be able to get to all the cache areas easily.

  • 9am Yak and canoe launch.
  • 10am Launch for everyone else. Late arrivals will need my cell #. Email me.
  • 12pm Event start.
  • 1-1:30pm Event ends.

  • Watch for updates or plan changes. All of this is tenative. If you have any suggestions, email me at www.rrboyce@aol.com

    Additional Hints (Decrypt)

[Anyone planning on doing some water caches and have an extra seat(s) let me know. Those that want to hitch a ride also contact me. I will put up a list for both groups. With the weather getting cooler and the lakes so close, it would be a shame to miss finding those in the area.
