Geocache Description:

Monument to a tragedy from 1891.

On Rte. 610 in Amherst County. Monument to little Ottie Powell who, at the age of 4 yrs. and 11 months, wandered away from the Tower Hill Schoolhouse and went to sleep on Bluff Mountain which is seven miles away. Sad inscription. This monument was placed in the vicinity of the schoolhouse. Another more famous monument is found on Bluff Mountain on the Appalacian Trail at the spot where the little body was found.
