Geocache Description:

Gnome Home 3

This is a multi-stage letterbox cache. The coordinates are given for the first stage where you should be able to find the coordinates for the final stage. Accurate coordinates were a bear to get with the thick tree canopy, and are only within 24'. Please use the clues given to help zero in on the target area.

Again, you are entering the forest glen of the gnomes, specifically near the home of Finbiddle and his fair wife, Glimwocket.  Many are the stories of the challenges Finbiddle faced to win the hand of his bride . . . but that's another tale for another time.

Your first challenge is to locate the first stage of this adventure.

Deep in the glen does the treasure lie
Deep where the tree once throve
     But the wicked wind
     And the ravager time
The trunk of the tree did hove
Deeply there does the treasure lie

Deep in the gnomish grove.

With this hint, you should be able to find the first stage.  With a twist of the wrist and a familiar tune, you will meet a surprising gnome who will give you the coordinates for the final stage.  Be sure to replace this gnome exactly as you find him for the next finder and to carefully seal the box so that no moisture or dirt (or critters) can get inside.

Here are some sage words to assist as you seek the final stage.

Three there are, three from one,
and one of these is dying
In the crux of the three, in an oaken perch
         the treasure you'll be spying.
Three there are, three at the root
          a band of triplet brothers
They mark the spot in the wooded grove
          a place unlike the others.

The final stage is a small lock'n'lock box with a stamp and inkpad (please leave these in the cache), a logbook, and an assortment of small prizes including pathtags and elongated geocaching pennies.  There is also an unactivated Traveling Gnome Geocoin for the intrepid first finder.  Be sure to replace the final cache as found and take care not to move the triplet brothers standing guard or to assist them in standing upright if they need help.

And I'll end this adventure with a gnomish blessing for the fortunate finders:

     May you have
     Walls for the wind
And a roof for the rain,
     And drinks beside the fire
     Laughter to cheer you
And those you love near you,

And all that your heart may desire.
