Geocache Description:

Situated near a historic church which was part of the old settlement of Middleton before the industrial revolution. The cache is in an urban area and can be accessed via a level path from the church car park which is open 24/7.

The cache container is a 35mm film cannister placed near to, but not in the grounds of St Leonard's Church. The church is a Grade 1 Listed building dating back to the 1100's. Most of what can been seen today was built in the 15-1600's. The wooden steeple added in 1667 is one of only three remaining in the country. In the immediate area are a number of other old buildings, including the Old Boars Head and the Old Grammar School. That's the history lesson over!! From Middleton Old Burial Ground to the south of the church there are some good views over the town.
