Wolphaartsdijk is een dorp in de gemeente Goes, in de Nederlandse provincie Zeeland en ligt vlakbij het veel kleinere Oud-Sabbinge. Het dorp heeft 2190 inwoners (2004).
Het dorp heeft een voetbalvereniging, tennisvereniging, tafeltennisverening en meer. In Wolphaartsdijk staan 3 scholen:
· de Achthoek (openbaar)
· de Ichtusschool (christelijk)
· Calvijn school (Gereformeerd)
In Wolphaartsdijk staat molen De Hoop.
Goes is in de tiende eeuw ontstaan aan de rand van een kreekgenaamd de Korte Gos. Het op een kreekrug gebouwde dorp groeit snel en reeds in de 12de eeuw is er spraken van een marktplein en een aan Maria gewijde kerk. Door de snelle groei krijgt Goes in 1405 stadrechten en in 1417 officieel toestemming om zich te versterken met stadmuren en een stadgracht. De welvaart van het stadje is gebaseerd op lakennijverheid en de winning van zout, dat uit veen gewonnnen word. In de zestiende eeuw gaat het Goes minder voor de wind. De verbinding met zee verzand en in 1544 vernietigd een grote brand een deel van de stad. In 1577 verlaten de Spaanse troepen die op dat moment de stad bestuurden Goes, en de stad werd door Prins Maurits van Nassau ingenomen. Deze laat een verdedigingsgordel om Goes aanleggen die tegenwoordig nog gedeeltelijk aanwezig is. In de eeuwen hierna speelt Goes geen belangrijke rol behalve die van agrarisch centrum van Zuid-Beveland. In 1868 krijgt Goes een treinverbinding. Dit leidt echter niet zoals bij veel steden tot industrialisatie. De economie blijft zich richten op dienstverlening en distributie. Eveneens blijft de agrarische sector een belangrijke rol spelen tot de dag van vandaag. Na de grote overstroming van 1 feb. 1953 vallen er 14 doden door de water ramp. De eerstvolgende groeistuipen krijgt Goes pas weer in de jaren 80 en 90 van de twintigste eeuw. De industrie neemt toe en de rol van dienstencentrum wordt verstekt. Eveneens groeit de stad sterk door de aanbouw van nieuwe wijken als het Goese Meer.

Wolphaarstdijk is a village inside the County of Goes, inside the Dutch province of Zeeland, near the much smaller town of Old-Sabbinge.
The village has 2190 people in it. (2004)
Goes originated in the 10th century on the edge of a river called the short (korte) Gos. The town was built on the river and grew rapidly, and in the 12th century they got their own market and a church devoted to St. Maria. Because of this rapid development Goes received in 1405 legal city rights and in 1417 they where able to defend themselves with a wall and a moat.
The prosperity of the city relied on salt from the ground. In the 16th century Goes took a step back because the conection to the sea dried up and in 1544 a huge fire distroyed a part of the city. In 1577 the Spanish troops that controled the city at that time left and Prince Maurits from Nassau took over.
He constructed a defending belt around Goes that still stands today. In later centurys Goes does not play any big parts except in 1868 they get a railroad conection, only this does not lead to industrialisation. The economy remains focused on service and distributing. After the big flooding of Holland 14 people died. The next growth-spurts Goes has gotten were only in the late 80's and 90's. Industrial corporation enhances and play a big role in the grow of Goes, as does the city by building alot of new houses and other buildings. It is safe to say that water plays a big role in the development of a town, flooding cause deaths and trade routes over sea's and as always as we Dutch are good in the ever lasting fight against global warming and raising water.
