BIG Cache at Hopkins Memorial Tree Farm Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

ornith: Looks like it is Disabled only, so I am Archiving it. When I woke up this morning, my intent was to Archive this one as I have been unable to make a repair to get the BIG Cache to seal and there is no reason to put it back inplace with a defective seal and everything get damp/wet.

Many thanks, ORNITH

Geocache Description:

SORRY, BUT THIS CACHE IS NOT WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE.

READ BEFORE SEEKING THE CACHE!!

Please pick up a Brochure at the Information Kiosk in the Main
Parking lot for additional Info on Hopkins Memorial Tree Farm
Guidelines, i.e., dogs on leash permitted if you pick up after them,
NO SMOKING, etc.

The Manager of the Tree Farm has given permission for the Cache
to be sought 24/7!!

THERE ARE SOME CONDITIONS, HOWEVER -- EASY ONES.

If you are asked what you are doing, tell the person asking and
indicate that permission has been granted by the Tree Farm Manager
to seek the Geocache at any time day or night.

Stay away from the “mowed areas” around the Residence.

Do not block any access points or the Driveway to the Private
residence when you park your vehicle. [The best Parking is in the
Main Parking Lot]

There is a newly planted “Forest” in the open area on the hill
below the Home. The trees are flagged with different color flagging
and you need to be very careful not to damage any of them.

CAUTION: Bushwhacking is required to access this Cache and it
can be mild or difficult depending on the route that you choose!
There are brambles -- mostly the low growing ones with only minor
prickles but they love to trip you! Young Geocachers may experience
difficulty keeping their feet untangled. There is poison oak in the
area and you are responsible for avoiding it -- make sure that you
recognize it.

Tim DeLano, the Hopkins Memorial Tree Farm Manager, wants you
to enjoy the area and asks that you consider the following:

1. Be safe: as with all Geocaches, you are responsible for your
own safety when you seek a Cache.

2. Enjoy Yourself: this is a great outdoor area and we are
fortunate they have made it available for our use.

3. Learn something: Learn a new tree, plant or animal. Or
something about Forestry. If you don’t find something on the way to
or from the Cache, read the Information Boards near the Main
Parking Area.

4. Practice “Leave No Trace” exploration. Avoid damaging the
vegetation as much as you possibly can. A little CITOing will be
appreciated, too

READ BEFORE SEEKING THE CACHE!!

Permission to place and seek this Cache was Granted by Tim
DeLano, Manager of the Tree Farm.

If you run into him, ask questions, learn something and, also,
Thank him!!

Finally, if you can come up with a topic for an Earthcache at
Hopkins, let me know or create it yourself. That will make one more
reason to visit the Hopkins Memorial Tree Farm.

Enjoy yourselves!!
