A 4WD or a boat is required to get to Fort Rous, a sandy climb up a hill and on to a clearly marked walking track from there. Take along a torch, as you can go underground into the bunkers.
The visiable gun emplacement from the beach is number 2 gun, The cache is hidden at number 1 gun emplacement that is fully intact with the explosive magazine. With in the cache is a history booklett of Fort Rous and a plan and waypoints of all the structures of the fort. Park your car at Fort Rous water tank and head to the walking track at S27 15.665 E153 24.983, the first concrete bunker is the Battery Plotting room. All great history of Moreton Island.
