Easy access with a good viewpoint of the River Valley. Should be a quick grab.
This is a micro in a quick stop and grab spot, try not to use the clues unless you really need to. The T'exelc and Xat'sull First Nations fished, hunted and picked berries in this area for thousands of years. More recently gravel extraction and saw mill sites have been active in the area. Visit the museum or tourist info centre for more information. The stunning landscape was assisted in development by the last Ice Age and this area was an enourmous flooded lake. If you walk further down the River Valley (and there are over 12 kilometers of trails) you will see the interesting and varying land formations. Wildlife is fairly abundant; deer are common, bears may be present, snakes (garter), beaver, river otter, squirrels, foxes, and even grazing cattle. You can bike or hike and some people ride their horses here. Motorized vehicles are not allowed in certian areas - to protect the trails, ecosystem and animals that live there. Dogs enjoy walking here and stollers are able to go all the way to the Fraser River on the trail. There are only 2 outhouses along the way, various locations have picnic tables. Be sure to bring your camera and enjoy the scenery. Our family finds this a pleasant place to walk in all seasons as there is always something new to discover! Cache appeared to be missing when I check June 15th, 2009, place a new similar size container at a slightly different level. Udate spring 2010 cache was moved into bush area but cachers seem to have difficulty finding it which is not the intention for this cache...its supposed to be easy..plus garbage seems to be accumulating in there...so fall 2010 moved cache to an easier to access location which should be available pretty much year round. Container has been changed again but moved log book along with pencil. Update 2020 Garbage can was removed so it is no longer there. Moved cache to a location with a great view nearby...follow coordinates. Of interest they have built a whole new trail system down below around the storm drainage area and are now in the process of building a new structure and small garden area half way down the hill. Why not go and check it out.
