Lightnings droning through the rain lashed sky of Washtenaw County
looking for their base. Lacking today’s navigational aides,
they had to rely totally on visual clues. Just as their fuel gauges
started to approach empty, the pilot in the lead plane spotted a
bonfire marking the end of runway 09/27. One by one, they hit the
grass runway and taxied to the hanger. After securing their
aircraft, they headed into the nearby town of Saline for a few
beers at the local pub.
