Geocache Description:

The Bolinas Ridge. On a clear day, there are sweeping views of Tomales Bay, Barnabe, Elephant Mountain, and the San Andreas Fault through the Olema Valley.

Although most of this area is GGNRA land, while looking at trail maps, I noticed that there were areas where Samuel Taylor Park met the fire road. I plotted a spot on the map and decided to place a cache there.

When I hiked up to the cache location, there were beautiful views, hawks flying close overhead, and a stillness that was broken only by an occasional biker or a small plane that circled the nearby hills looking for a cash crop.

I took the trail from Jewell because I had not hiked it since the days when it had a cache. The redwoods along the creek approaching the trail are always nice. The Sir Francis Drake trailhead is the closest access, but one of our daughters would tell you to beware of evil cows if you take that route. It can be done as a separate trip with a number of loop options (particularly if you are biking) -- or you can take the "two car" approach as part of the Bolinas Ridge series.

I replaced this cache with a new container and moved it closer to the trail. Be sure to replace it as you found it and to keep the lid on tight!
