Motorway Mayhem caches are intended to provide fairly easy drive-by caches together with useful “just-off” motorway information for travellers who are in need of a break or seek alternatives to the typical motorway service station type fare and prices. It is hoped this series and concept will grow as other cachers add further caches along the length and breadth of Britain’s Motorways.
Please use N53° 42.345 W001° 19.763 for the recommended safe parking location. The cache itself is near the entrance to The Prince Of Wales Colliery Site – Pontefract.
Following the closure of the colliery in 2002, UK Coal has been working on a master plan for the reclamation of the site. It is anticipated that the site will accommodate a variety of uses including offices, residential and leisure uses. Hopefully the leisure uses may include fresh cache friendly meadowlands that have sprung up all over West Yorkshire as a result of the many pit closures hereabouts.
