During the late 80’s I taught English conversation for almost two years in Japan and I've never forgotten the experience. The great people I met, the food and the culture all left a life-altering impression on me.
Kikumi, (pronounced, "key-coo-me") who became a good friend during my stay in Japan, visited Edmonton during the second week of September, 2007. We hadn’t seen each other for about 20 years, so it was very special to meet her again and to be able to show her Edmonton, the Rockies and introduce her to, you guessed it, geocaching.
This cache is to commemorate Kikumi’s visit to Canada. It has been stocked with some items Kikumi recently brought from Japan and others I have kept since I left there 20 years ago. All the original items have a Japanese theme, but feel free to swap other kinds of items.
While you sign the logbook, please take a moment to say a big HELLO to Kikumi. I’ll be sending her copies of all the log entries in the future. Here’s a little bit about Kikumi, so you have a good idea of who you are saying “Hi!” to. She lives in the city of Matsuyama, (about the city, where it is) which is in the prefecture of Ehime on the island of Shikoku, one of the four main islands of Japan. Kikumi was originally an English conversation student of mine; over time she became a really good friend. She hasn't been studying English regularly for about 10 years now but has instead focused on Spanish and Portuguese. Kikumi is an intelligent, fun-loving person who loves to learn new things.
