The other end Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

the hermit crabs: We went to pick up the cache today. As we crossed the bouncy plank bridge, we heard lots of voices coming from the cache site -- it turned out to be the final group of finders, who had arrived just minutes before the container was to be removed. Good timing!

We're amazed that previous cachers had been so strong and so persistent that they were actually able to un-weld the lid and open it the "normal" way! (For those who did not see it in its original form: the cache was an elaborate joke; our brother-in-law Bill had welded an ammo can shut and had cut open a secret panel in the bottom, held in place by a very strong magnet. The name "The other end" was a hint for how to open the cache, and the publishing date of April Fool's Day was another hint that the container was a joke.)

Thanks to all who found it!

Geocache Description:

A cache at "the other end" of the Cold Harbor Brook trail in Northborough.

There are a few caches that are accessible from the southern end of the Cold Harbor Brook trail (Heavy Metal Cache, Cold Harbor Brook Cache, and What Are These Doing Here?), but none from the northern end. After driving by the trail sign at the northern end a few hundred times, we've decided to place one there.

The northern end of the trail is shorter and less frequently used than the southern end, and can get a bit overgrown at times. It's about a 10-minute walk to the cache, with a bouncy plank bridge (see fosterd's picture) and a couple of benches in case the walk wears you out.

The plank bridges can be slippery at times, so watch your step if you're attempting this find in snowy or wet conditions.

The trail entrance is on West St, opposite from Cherry St (see coordinates below, and the trail map even further below).

The cache is an ammo can in a stone wall by a V-shaped tree. (It doesn't quite qualify as a "return to tradition" cache, though.) There is no need to move any stones to retrieve the cache. There's an unactivated FTF geocoin for the first finder.

Please only log a "found it" if you've signed the log.
