Geocache Description:

This is a new trail made by the power company. Not many people know about this trail and only a few people have hiked this trail so it is not well defined and it is very easy to loose the trail sometimes. Make sure you follow the blue rectangles on the trees.

The trail starts of flat and the terrain is easy. The further you go the worse the terrain gets. You will have to walk over downed trees or logs, over a small brook, up steep banks and between or over rocks. The last 250' is the toughest part of the trail. Please use caution. We recommend you don't hike this trail alone, bring a buddy!

We placed the cache just before the vista off the path just incase someone couldn’t or doesn’t want to climb up the last big rock to reach the vista. (You will see what we mean when you reach the end of the trail).

At the vista you will have views of the Bear Swamp Lower Reservoir, Monroe Lookout, the Deerfield River, Vermont and much more.

You can take either Tunnel Rd. or Steel Brook Rd. to get Negus. If you have a car Tunnel Rd. may be better on your car. (Tunnel Road is NOT a thru road)

Please note that during the winter months both Tunnel Rd. and Steel Brook road are closed and used for snowmobiling only. You can hike; snowshoe, snowmobile or cross-country ski up in winter months but you CAN'T drive up. Also, be advised this is a hunting area use caution during hunting seasons!
