A hiker's cache located in Padden Lake Park.
On July 28th, 2007, I attended the Whatcom Geocachers BBQ and get-together. One of the events at the BBQ was a geocache raffle. The organizers of the event had a geocache-ready ammo can sitting on a table. Everyone who dropped in a trading item got a chance to win. I dropped in a toy airplane (It is supposed to be a Curtiss P-40, but it looks like a toy airplane.) I won the raffle. Yesterday I finally got around to planting the cache. I like to both hike and geocache, and my favorite caches are those out along the trails. So for all my fellow hiking geocachers, I planted this one.
Park at the east end of Lake Padden at N 48 41.959, W 122 26.656. From there it is about a one mile hike on the park trails. Trail maps are posted throughout the park. There is no need to leave the trail until about the last 10 yards or so. GPS coverage in the trees is very weak, so the coordinates are for a clearing about 5 yards east of the cache.
Please hide it as well as you found it, and if it becomes exposed when the leaves drop in the winter, please cover it even better!
The cache is well supplied with trading items.
The stash includes:
A 1994 Anchorage Alaska Fur Rondy pin
A match container/whistle
Small dry pack waterproof container
"Sunstones from the Spectrum mine"
A toy animal
6 toy vehicles
A key ring
2 rubber balls
1 RCMP wrist band
1 Microsoft yo-yo
And for the FTF and STF: (One for each, please) A California geocoin and a Scobby, Shaggy, and Velma geocoin, both unactivated.
