Geocache Description:

A water-based multi-cache.

The Owl and the Pussycat went to sea
in a beautiful pea-green boat.
They took some honey and plenty of money
wrapped up in a five pound note.

An unashamed excuse to simply Mess About in a Boat on the Kerikeri Inlet, the name of this cache is an oblique reference to the vessel used for the placement. This is a multi-cache for which you will need a small dinghy or kayak of some description. The listed coordinates are those of the first waypoint.

At each waypoint you will find information to take you to the next. None of them require you to leave the boat. Allow for an hour or so on the water.

Do not attempt this cache at low tide - some of the waypoints will be inaccessable. For the lowest high tide (about 2.0 metres), one hour either side should suffice. The final is retrievable one way or another regardless of tidal conditions. For a truly sublime experience pick a day when high tide is around dawn.

The relevant tide timetable is here.

There are 3 possible launch sites: The pontoon near the Stone Store; the rocks opposite; or the dinghy ramp at the end of Pa Road (recommended if your boat is not easily portable).

Be careful retrieving the cache - it's heavier than it looks. Given the nature of the environment it is logsheet only and BRING YOUR OWN PEN.

NAVIGATION WARNING: There is a large rock, just submerged at high tide, roughly eighty metres out from WP1. Stay on the outside of the bend.
