Tahoe West Shore Peaks- Scott Peak Traditional Cache
Tahoe West Shore Peaks- Scott Peak
Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
This cache is one in the series of Tahoe West Shore Peaks. It is atop Scott Peak, elevation 8,289 feet.
Scott Peak overlooks Lake Tahoe and has fantastic views of Lake Tahoe to the East, and Granite Chief wilderness to the West.
It is within Alpine Meadows ski area in the winter, near the top of the Scott Chairlift. It is accessible by foot, mountain bike, and probably for winter cachers as well (who need only to ride the lift to the top).
There are several ways to get to this cache. Cachers can either start from the Alpine Meadows parking area, or from the end of Courcheval road. There are ski area access roads that lead up to the cache area.
This is also a totally mountain bike friendly cache. Cyclists can take the 16N48 Forest service road, and climb the 16N48A road to the top of Scott Peak. The old road quickly turns into a fun, windy singletrack which goes all the way to the summit. Do a map check on this one.
The cache itself should be easy to find once you make the journey out here. If you make the trip, you should find it easily. With the hint, you should be able to find the cache even without a GPS.
Winter cachers might be able to nab this cache as well, since it's right near the top of Scott chair. A bit of digging might be required...
Happy peak bagging. Please post pics.
